Advanced Lumion and SketchUp Course
The Centre for Landscape Management Studies, Housing and Local Government Training Institute (I-KPKT) organised a physical Advanced Lumion and SketchUp Course from 18 – 20 February 2025.
One speaker and two facilitators were invited to share their knowledge and experience with the participants. The speaker and facilitators were:
- Mr Mohd Jafni bin Mohd Amer, Assistant Director/Landscape Architect from the Technical Services Division, National Landscape Department
- Mr Meor Yusro bin Meor Saadon Sofian, Assistant Landscape Architect from the Public Parks Division, National Landscape Department
- Mr Muhamad Azuha bin Ramli, Assistant Landscape Architect from the Landscape Development Division, National Landscape Department
Participants were introduced to the use of Lumion and SketchUp, two computer software programs frequently used in visualising landscape development project proposals to facilitate discussion and presentation sessions with clients and the public. This software is capable of simulating proposed ideas and designs for a project or building development more easily, quickly, and attractively through a variety of rendering methods that produce engaging and realistic visuals.
The course was conducted physically in a computer lab and in a hands-on manner, where the main objectives of the course were to:
i. Enhance the participants’ skills in Lumion and SketchUp software for producing landscape designs.
ii. Assist participants in visualising landscape development concepts to clients or the public for new or existing landscape development proposals.
It is hoped that the participants will be able to apply the software/applications they have learned, particularly during the planning and landscape design process for any project proposals to be undertaken.
